Weekend Business

The little boy being dedicated to the Lord took a shine to Mike
There were two baby dedications at church yesterday.  It is a happy occasion when parents ask the Lord Jesus to bless their little ones.  All the parents were invited to the front together with their babies and the ministers who were to pray over them.  The baby boy that Mike held had been a little fussy right before he went up front, but he seemed to like Mike and was quiet as he was prayed for.

Also participating in the baby dedication were Pastor Simi and Pastor Teo Bulzan who was the guest speaker.  Pastor Teo translated for Mike as he prayed.

The main reason Pastor Teo was in Gherla was to officiate the annual church membership meeting and to lead the work of preparing for it with the board the day before.  We appreciate the members of the church board who do so much work behind the scenes to keep the church running smoothly and we especially appreciate the guidance and oversight of Teo Bulzan.  May the Lord bless each of them.

First Inste Meeting

Monday evening was the first meeting of the new Inste group here in Gherla.  We are so excited!  The meeting began with the students praying with their new prayer partners and taking their first test.  The discussion that followed was very good and everyone participated.
We were helped a lot in leading the group by Elias and Gabi who translated for us.  Please continue to pray for these precious students that God will help them as they study and that we will all be conformed to the image of God's Son Jesus Christ.

Serve One Another

It is good to change things up from time to time to keep us from letting meaningful actions become just boring habits.  Yesterday was a good reminder not to make receiving the Lord's Supper a ritual.  Mike preached from 1 Corinthians 11 about honoring the Lord's body by respecting and honoring what Christ did for us on the cross and by respecting and honoring every other member in the Body of Christ, the Church.  At the end of the service he invited everyone to come to the communion table by two's or three's, encouraging married couples to come together, and to serve each other Communion and then pray for each other.  It was a power time of honoring the Lord's body together.
The Lord's Supper is not a ritual we do in church, it is a reminder of what Jesus did for us on the cross.  May we always serve each other as Christ served us.
